How Sleeping Ute Paving Got Started
Jay and Jill Periotti started Sleeping Ute Paving & Chip Seal Co. in 2012 after years running crews for larger regional paving outfits out of Durango and Montrose — long enough to see how many of them treated Cortez and Dolores as an afterthought stop on a bigger route. They set out to build a company that actually lives here, knows the roads, and shows up on the schedule it promises.
Today the crew handles everything from a single-driveway chip seal to multi-acre commercial lot resurfacing, all without leaving the Four Corners region for weeks at a time chasing bigger contracts elsewhere. That standard now extends from Cortez and Dolores in Montezuma County, to Durango in La Plata County, Colorado, and Farmington, Aztec, and Bloomfield in San Juan County, New Mexico. Cortez’s elevation and freeze-thaw winters are hard on pavement — we’ve built our mix designs and application timing around exactly that, not a generic lower-elevation spec borrowed from a franchise manual.
We’re a family operation, not a franchise or a seasonal crew passing through, and every driveway, private road, and parking lot gets the same care we’d give our own property. Reach us anytime at (970) 555-0187 or info@sleepingutepaving-demo.com.
